MANILA – The death toll from the combined effects of Tropical Storm Enteng and the southwest monsoon (habagat) has climbed to 12, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Wednesday.

Based on the agency’s latest situation report, these include seven in Calabarzon, two each in Bicol and Central Visayas and one in Western Visayas. Eleven persons were injured — 10 in Central Visayas and one in Bicol.

Seven persons in the Bicol region were also reported missing.

These casualty reports are still undergoing validation.

Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said some 149,661 families or 547,029 individuals have so far been affected by these weather disturbances in 695 villages in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas and the National Capital Region.

Of this number, 12,742 families or 50,076 individuals are being aided in 323 evacuation centers while 4,836 families, or 14,164 persons are being helped outside.

Some 589 houses were damaged in Central Luzon, Bicol, Western and Central Visayas. (PNA)
