MANILA – The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has confirmed the deaths of two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who perished in a fire in Kuwait on Dec. 2.

In a statement released on Friday, the DMW said it would provide help to the families of the victims who died in the fire.

Labor Attaché Manuel Dimaano of the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Kuwait reported that the fire started in a residence located in the Al Adan area of the Mubarak Al Kabeer governorate, south of Kuwait City.

“According to the report, the workers’ cause of death was attributed to the inhalation of non-breathable, toxic gases from the fire,” Dimaano said.

He assured that the MWO is working on the repatriation of the victims’ remains to the Philippines.

The DMW has extended financial and emotional support to the families of the deceased who are based in Capiz. (PNA)
