MANILA, Dec 24 (Mabuhay) — The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday reported 288 new COVID-19 infections as 11 laboratories failed to submit data on time.

Based on the DOH’s latest bulletin, this brings the nationwide tally to 2,837,903.

Active infections stood at 9,251, of which, 480 are asymptomatic, 3,204 are mild, 3,393 are moderate, 1,797 are severe, and 377 are in critical condition.

The DOH said recoveries climbed by 270 to 2,777,671 while 65 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 50,981.

The country’s COVID-19 positivity rate was at 1.1%, which is within the World Health Organization’s requirement target of less than 5% positivity rate. The total conducted COVID-19 tests were at 32,118

According to the latest data, at least 19% of 3,500 intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide are in use.

Meanwhile, 11% of the 12,500 ward beds in the country were utilized, while 16% of the 3,700 ward beds in the National Capital Region (NCR) were in use.

Based on the report, the DOH said two laboratories were not operational since December 21, while there were 11 laboratories that failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.

The Health department said two duplicates were removed from the total case count and were reclassified as recoveries.

Meanwhile, at least 60 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.(MNS)
