MANILA – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Tuesday reported the arrest of three Chinese men for illegally staying in the country.

In a statement, Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said authorities arrested Xu Yonglian, 38; Lin Jinxing, 42; and Cai Xiji, 44, in a commercial building in Davao City on Sept. 5 for illegally working in the country.

Xu was found to be misrepresenting himself as a Filipino and using a Filipino name in business dealings in the area, despite holding a working visa petitioned by a company in Binondo, Manila.

Lin, on the other hand, was caught working despite only holding a tourist visa, while Cai was found holding a working visa for a company located in Binondo, despite actually working in Davao.

All three were found to have violated Philippine immigration laws and were immediately arrested.

“We will not allow illegal aliens to use the said scheme to remain in the country,” Viado said.

The arrest was jointly conducted by the BI intelligence division in Mindanao and BI Regional Intelligence Operating Unit 11, in coordination with the Philippine Army, Air Force, Sta. Ana Police Station, Davao City Police Office, and other government intelligence forces. (PNA)
