MANILA – Three South Korean nationals were arrested by Bureau of Immigration (BI) operatives for working illegally at a private resort in General Trias, Cavite, the agency announced Saturday.

In a press release, the agency said Oh Hyunsik, 51; Kim Haeyoung, 48; and Kim Seoyeong, 45 were apprehended in a resort inside a subdivision in General Trias on Thursday.

The operation was carried out in coordination with the Philippine Navy and Philippine National Police, following a tip-off about the presence of undocumented foreign workers in the area.

Surveillance confirmed that they were actively employed at the resort without the necessary permits and working visas, according to BI intelligence division chief Fortunato Manahan Jr.

The three are detained at the BI detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig, pending deportation proceedings. (Ferdinand Patinio /PNA)
