CABANATUAN CITY – Four alleged online scammers were arrested during an entrapment in Barangay Burnay, Talavera, Nueva Ecija, early Sunday.
Nueva Ecija police director, Col. Ferdinand Germino, said the suspects — a 25-year-old male and 22-year-old female from Barangay Burnay, and two males aged 28 from Barangay San Pascual — were caught based on a complaint by a certain Renz, 32, co-owner of a motorsport shop.
Cordova said the fifth suspect, a 24-year-old male, posed as a buyer and presented a falsified online transaction slip for the motor parts worth P809,500.
Trusting its legitimacy, Cordova sent the items via delivery service, only to find out later that no payment was made.
An entrapment was immediately planned and led to the arrest of the four suspects. Seized from them were the motorparts “scammed” from the victim.
They are facing charges of syndicated estafa.
The fifth suspect who masterminded the transaction is now the subject of manhunt. (PNA)
