MANILA – At least 50 persons were injured in a road crash involving three public utility buses (PUB) at the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) Busway on Friday afternoon.

In a situation report, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said the incident happened at 12:22 p.m. on the northbound lane of the EDSA Busway Balintawak Station.

The MMDA and the Quezon City local government dispatched ambulances to provide medical treatment and first aid to the injured.

The three buses involved were owned by PUB operators Kellen, Admiral, and Jell.

In a video showing the aftermath of the incident and posted by the MMDA on Facebook, the Kellen bus was positioned in front of the pile-up and sustained rear damage, while the Admiral bus was in the middle, sustaining front and rear damage.

The Jell bus sustained damage to its front area and appeared to have crashed into the Admiral bus after mowing down concrete barriers along the busway.

The cause of the incident is still under probe. (PNA)
