MANILA – Fifty overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from strife-torn Lebanon arrived in the country Friday morning.

Officials of the Department of Migrant Workers, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and other key government agencies welcomed the group which arrived via Emirates flight EK 336.

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said another batch of 45 OFWs with five dependents will be flying home on Saturday.

Both groups are part of the 334 from Lebanon expected to return home this November, Cacdac said.

No Filipinos have been reported hurt or died amid continued Israeli air strikes across Lebanon.

“We continue our sheltering, repatriation, and monitoring of the situation on the ground,” he said in a statement.

OWWA assured that each repatriated OFW will receive financial assistance of PHP150,000.

They would also undergo medical and psychological checkups through the Department of Health.

Likewise, they would be provided with free livelihood training vouchers from the Technical Education And Skills Development Authority and job placement assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment. (PNA)
