MANILA – Three people were killed and 10 others were wounded in a six-vehicle collision along Fortune Avenue in Marikina City on Wednesday night.
According to the Marikina City Police Station’s report, the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. after a trailer truck lost control on the inclined slope of the road in Barangay Fortune.
The trailer truck rolled backward uncontrollably, causing its carried container to overturn and crush a jeepney, a green car, and a Hyundai.
The sudden backward motion triggered a chain-reaction collision involving two more vehicles, the report added.
In a radio interview on Thursday, Marikina Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office chief Dave David confirmed that three people were killed and 10 were injured.
He said the victims were brought to the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center in Marikina City.
The identities of the victims have been withheld.
The truck driver was taken into police custody while awaiting inquest proceedings for multiple homicides with multiple physical injuries and multiple damage to property. (PNA)
