MANILA, June 24 (Mabuhay) –The Philippines’ active coronavirus cases are now at 5,523, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Thursday, while 716 new infections were logged, the highest single-day tally since March.

In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the new COVID-19 cases bring the total nationwide caseload at 3,698,509.

Recoveries increased by 295 to a total of 3,632,491. The death toll, meanwhile, was up by 11 to 60,495.

Metro Manila recorded the highest COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks with 3,002 infections. It was followed by Region IV-A (CALABARZON) with 989 new cases, Western Visayas with 510, Central Luzon with 432, and Central Visayas with 248.

The DOH said 18,132 individuals got tested for COVID on Wednesday, June 22. (MNS)
