MANILA – Eight informants split the reward of PHP1.6 million from the Philippine National Police (PNP) for providing information that led to the arrest of nine most wanted criminals.

The PNP said the tipsters received the reward at its Camp Crame headquarters in Quezon City on Jan. 16.

For their safety and privacy, the reward claimants wore masks to conceal their identities.

In a news release on Saturday, PNP Director for Intelligence Brig. Gen. Westrimundo Obinque said the nine arrested criminals are involved in various heinous crimes such as murder, rape and homicide.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil earlier said the reward program is part of continuing efforts to build stronger partnerships between the police and the community.

“We are grateful to the public for their continued support, as it is through their assistance that we can make significant strides in ensuring justice and maintaining peace in our communities,” Marbil said. (Lloyd Caliwan/PNA)
