MANILA – A total of nine informants will split the PHP1.8 million reward from the Philippine National Police (PNP) for providing information that led to the arrest of nine most wanted criminals.

The informants received the reward in simple rites at the PNP Intelligence Training Group in Camp Crame, Quezon City on Nov. 15, the PNP said in a news release Thursday.

PNP director for intelligence Brig. Gen. Westrimundo Obinque said the information provided by the tipsters resulted in the capture of fugitives involved in serious crimes such as murder, rape, homicide and illegal possession of firearms.

He said the captured criminals, who had long evaded justice, are facing legal proceedings.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil earlier emphasized the importance of community collaboration in law enforcement.

He said the PNP’s monetary reward system is a key component of its strategy to encourage public involvement in addressing security-related threats. (PNA)
