Gone are the days when teen sweethearts Jake Vargas and Bea Binene would argue over the slightest of disagreements.
At the launch of GMA-7’s newest series “Strawberry Lane,” the reel and real life couple fans fondly refer to as ‘JaBea’ acknowledged that they no longer dwell on such petty stuff.
While Jake says their two-and-a-half-year long relationship still has its fair share of challenges, he maintained, “Nalalagpasan namin (kaagad)… ‘Pag may dumating kasi sa aming problema, hindi namin pinapatagal.”
He added, “Dumarating (pa rin) ’yun (selosan)… pero hindi naman totally na ‘Oh, wag kang lalapit diyan ah!’”
The newfound maturity has allowed him to better focus on work. “Iba kasi ’yung pinagtutuunan mo ng pansin ’yung trabaho mo,” he said. “Mas maganda ’yung walang problema, masaya kayo lagi.”
Recently, Jake had Bea’s name inked on his right arm. “Para alam niya na lagi ko siyang kasama.”
For Bea, working things out in a relationship is simply about choosing battles wisely. “Hindi lahat away, away, away. Siguro alam na naming kung ano ’yung mga dahilan ng dapat naming pag-awayan,” she explained.
The young actress is also aware that their fans look up to them as examples. “Kaya I know my limits, alam ko po kung ano at kung alin ’yung mga dapat na ginagawa ko, at kung hanggang saan po ako dapat pupunta.”
Bea dismisses talks that she causes most of their squabbles being a domineering girlfriend, saying, “Basta transparent (lang) kami sa isa’t isa. Alam ko ’yung nararamdaman niya, alam niya ’yung nararamdaman ko.”
She attests how she even encourages Jake to be more wary of people taking advantage of his innate kindness. “Sana alam niya rin (kung hanggang saan lang) ’yung dapat na binibigay niya sa ibang tao.”
Jake and Bea are both ecstatic that their love team has been resurrected via “Strawberry Lane.”
The teen actor believes that they are able to deliver better performances together, especially since they are already comfortable with each other.
Bea agreed, saying, “Gamay na namin ’yung isa’t isa.”
“Strawberry Lane” premiered Sept. 15 on GMA Telebabad. (MNS)
