LEGAZPI CITY – A Philippine Air Force Tactical Operation Group 5 helicopter on Tuesday airlifted a five-year-old girl from Masbate province to the Bicol Regional Hospital and Medical Center (BRHMC) for emergency medical treatment.

In an interview on Wednesday, BRHMC director Dr. Eric Roborar said the patient underwent a CT scan right after they arrived at the hospital.

“So far, based on the result, she has a left and right brain hematoma. The early medical intervention that was done was very helpful in checking the status of the patient. We are sure of the management needed,” he said.

Raborar said the patient will still be observed and will undergo another examination.

“The test needs to be repeated to check if the blood in her brain gets bigger or smaller. If the condition is already stable, we will not proceed with any intervention. If it progresses, if the patient deteriorates, we know where the problem is,” he said.

Raborar said another patient is set to be airlifted, a pregnant woman with a spinal cord injury.

“We are thankful to the PAF-TOG for the help in transporting the patient,” he said.

The PAF is conducting humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations in Masbate in the aftermath of Severe Tropical Storm Opong (international name Bualoi). (PNA)
