Singer Angeline Quinto said she was already of age when her biological mother “sold” her for P10,000 to her adopted mom, whom she fondly calls “Mama Bob.”
How she feels about her real mom, Angeline refuses to divulge. She’s obviously just grateful to her adoptive mom for taking care of her and loving her. Mama Bob did not only treat Angeline like her own daughter; she also encouraged the singer-actress to dream and reach for the stars.
Which is why when Mama Bob learned that Angeline can sing, she accompanied the young dreamer to singing contests. They first went to amateur competitions near their home in Sampaloc, Manila, before joining singing contests on TV.
Angeline remembers having competed with Sarah Geronimo in the IBC 13’s “Star for a Night” and with Jonalyn Viray in “Star Power.”
But it was in Sharon Cuneta’s search for the next “Pop Superstar,” where she finally realized her dream to be a singing sensation.
Angeline not only won the trophy, but a cash prize of P1 million, a car, plus an exclusive recording contract with Star Records.
Now, one of the most-sought-after entertainers in the industry, Angeline is an in-demand performer here and abroad.
She has had the chance to appear in films and on TV shows as well.
Currently, she is called the “Queen of Teleserye Theme Songs.”
What makes her happier is that she was able to give her Mama Bob and their family a better life.
For one, they no longer live in Sampaloc. They now own a house in an exclusive subdivision in Quezon City. Angeline also owns a unit in a condominium near ABS-CBN.
Right now, she said she can’t ask for anything more. (MNS)
