LEGAZPI CITY – The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) confiscated PHP1.88 million worth of illegal drugs and apprehended 23 individuals involved in drug-related activities during a series of operations conducted from Jan. 27 to Feb. 2.
In a report on Monday, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon said 20 operations resulted in the seizure of 276.89 grams of shabu and 3 grams of marijuana.
Among the provinces, Camarines Norte reported the highest drug seizure with PHP656,132; followed by Camarines Sur with PHP448,120; Naga City with PHP301,240; Masbate with PHP241,400; Albay with PHP160,160; and Sorsogon with PHP75,160; while Catanduanes reported no significant drug seizures during this period.
Dizon said that PRO-5’s anti-drug operations have significantly impacted the illegal drug trade, but that the fight is far from over.
“With unwavering resolve, the PNP Bicol remains committed to intensifying its efforts and ensuring that those involved in the illegal drug trade are held accountable for their actions,” he said.
He added that PRO-5 is dedicated to eliminating illegal drug activities within its jurisdiction.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to dismantling drug syndicates operating in our region. We will continue to take aggressive actions to ensure the safety and well-being of our communities. This is just the beginning, and we will intensify our efforts until we eliminate this threat,” Dizon said.
The PRO-5 urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to illegal drugs to the nearest police station.
“Only through the active participation of the community can our fight against drugs be truly successful,” he added. (PNA)
