LEGAZPI CITY – The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) has apprehended 23 individuals and confiscated illegal drugs worth PHP2.4 million during a weeklong operation.

In a report released on Monday, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon said a total of 18 operations led to the seizure of 357.53 grams of shabu and 10 grams of marijuana from March 3 to 9.

Camarines Norte recorded the largest drug confiscation, amounting to PHP2.15 million, followed by Camarines Sur with PHP140,294, Albay with PHP114,760, Masbate with PHP13,600, and Sorsogon with PHP4,080.

No drugs were seized in Naga City and Catanduanes during this period.

Dizon called on the public to support the government’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs by cooperating with the authorities.

“I urge the public to assist in the fight against illegal drugs by providing information to the authorities. This is part of the government’s broader initiative to combat the spread of drugs and maintain peace and order in the region,” he said in Filipino.

Dizon also reaffirmed the PRO-5’s commitment to protecting the people of Bicol through sustained anti-drug operations and strict monitoring.

“We, in the Bicol police, remain determined to safeguard the safety of every citizen through continuous operations and vigilant efforts against illegal drugs,” he added.

The PRO-5 said it continues its intensified campaign even as it urged the public to remain vigilant and actively participate in the fight against illegal drugs.

Through collaboration and shared responsibility, law enforcement and the community can work together to maintain peace and security, ensuring a brighter future for the Bicol region, it said. (with a report by Valerie Mae Olaño, OJT/PNA)
