LEGAZPI CITY – Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) Regional Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon on Thursday ordered the Camarines Sur Provincial Police to conduct a hot pursuit operation and a thorough investigation into a shooting that killed a barangay official in the province.
In a media release, Dizon identified the victim as Nerio Braza, a barangay official in Barangay San Juan, Pili, Camarines Sur, who suffered gunshot wounds to multiple areas of his body that resulted in his death.
Dizon assured the public that investigators are actively pursuing all leads and examining every possible angle.
“Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the area is being retrieved and reviewed to expedite the identification of the suspects,” he said.
Dizon added that all necessary actions are being taken to resolve the case swiftly and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Based on the initial investigation conducted by the Camarines Sur Provincial Police Office, two suspects, wearing bonnets and riding a motorcycle in tandem, arrived at the victim’s meat shop and shot him multiple times at 5:10 a.m.
The suspects fled the scene immediately after the incident, heading in an unknown direction.
The motive behind the attack is still under investigation.
Dizon also extended his deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to the bereaved family of the victim.
“We acknowledge the severity of this loss and its profound impact on the local community. We shall remain firmly committed to maintaining peace and order in the region and to preventing similar acts of violence in the future. We urge the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with us by providing any relevant information that may assist in the investigation,” he added. (PNA)
