MANILA (Mabuhay) – The camp of Vice President Jejomar Binay said they received reports of a helicopter seemingly hovering above a piggery and flower farm in Rosario, Batangas, where he used to have a stake.

In a statement, media affairs chief Joey Salgado said: “Employees at a piggery and flower farm leasing a property in Rosario, Batangas have reported a helicopter flying around the property Thursday last week.”

“The said helicopter flew around the property for about 20 minutes. According to the employees, this was the first time that such an incident happened.”

Salgado said they will not be surprised if aerial footage and photos of the property will be circulated in the media and even presented to the Senate sub-committee in the coming days.

He said, however, that Binay’s detractors will be disappointed.

“Allow us to reiterate what the lawyers of the Vice President told media in their presentation on the Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) of the Vice President and his spouse, former mayor Elenita S. Binay,” he said.

In several documents sent to the media more than a week ago, Binay’s camp said his net worth registered at P60,118,766 as of end 2013. His assets amounted to P66,171,663, while liabilities registered at P6,052,897.

Binay’s net worth was mainly due to the JCB Farms, a piggery business he started in 1994 in Rosario.

The JCB Farms earned Binay an additional net income of P44,350,921.88 from 1994 to 2010. During the said period, Binay paid taxes amounting to P15,889,581.83.

“A flower shop business owned by Dr. Binay (Blooms and Bouquet) has also been sourcing its flower requirements in a flower farm in Rosario, Batangas. The piggery and flower farm both explain the Vice President and his family’s visibility in Rosario,” Salgado said.

Binay then disposed of his business interests in JCB Farms after the 2010 elections.

This increased his net worth to P58,096,290.78 in 2010, or P13,306,757.44 higher than his 2009 net worth.

The Binay camp earlier questioned the jurisdictional authority of the Senate sub-committee to probe into the alleged corruption in Makati. (MNS)
