BUTUAN CITY – Two top New People’s Army commanders were arrested, and two other members surrendered during separate operations launched by field units of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 (Caraga) on Thursday. In a statement on Friday,

PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano Magistrado IV said alias “Jasper,” 29, the third most wanted person in the region, was arrested by the police’s Regional Mobile Force 13 operatives and other support units in Esperanza, Agusan del Sur.

He is the vice team leader of the Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda Squad 1, Platoon Banglas of the dismantled NPA Guerrilla Front 88, South Regional Command 3, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee.

Meanwhile, operatives of Carmen Municipal Police Station and the Army’s 36th Infantry Battalion (IB) apprehended alias “Nicko,” 49, the former commanding officer of the weakened NPA Guerrilla Front 30 of the North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) in Carmen, Surigao del Sur.

On the same day, two other NPA combatants voluntarily surrendered to police and the Army units, Magistrado reported.

Alias “Jose,” 29, the squad leader and medic of Squad 2 Alpha, Regional Sentro de Gravidad-NEMRC, yielded to the personnel of the Cantilan Municipal Police Station and the Army’s 75th IB in Barobo, Surigao del Sur.

He surrendered a rifle grenade and a memory card that contained highly sensitive NPA information, including tactical guides, combat procedures, and plans for future operations.

Likewise, alias “Papa Lobe,” 53, the regional coordinator of Kilusang Mayo Uno-NEMRC white area voluntarily yielded to the Cabadbaran City Police Station and handed over a .45-caliber pistol with ammunition.

“These accomplishments reflect the growing impact of our collective efforts to weaken the NPA and sustain peace and order in the region. I commend our operatives for their efforts that led to these significant victories,” Magistrado said. (PNA)
