BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office in Caraga (PRO-13) arrested 15 most wanted persons (MWPs) linked to gender-based crimes during a series of manhunt operations last week.

In a report released Monday, PRO-13 said the arrests included seven regional-level MWPs, one provincial-level MWP, and seven municipal-level MWPs.

“The apprehensions were carried out through arrest warrants issued by local courts,” the report said.

Among the suspects was “Jef”, 39, ranked third on the regional MWP list. He faces charges for allegedly raping a 16-year-old mentally incapacitated minor through force and intimidation in February 2008.

Another suspect, “Adonis,” 49, ranked second on the regional list, is accused of five counts of statutory rape and acts of lasciviousness.

“I commend the PRO-13 personnel for these successful law enforcement operations. Each arrest warrant served is a victory for the victims who deserve justice and for communities yearning for peace,” PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano said.

He also acknowledged the community’s support, which contributed to the suspects’ apprehension. (PNA)
