BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) reported the confiscation of 55 loose firearms during a five-day Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) conducted from September 26 to 30.

In a report on Thursday, PRO-13 said the recovered firearms included three seized during the implementation of search warrants, one during police response, and 51 that were voluntarily surrendered to authorities.

The Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO) accounted for the highest number of recovered loose firearms with 15, followed by Surigao del Norte PPO with 13, and the Surigao del Sur PPO with 10.

Agusan del Norte PPO and Dinagat Islands PPO each accounted for four, while the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 13 recovered seven, and the Butuan City Police Office accounted for two.

“I commend the relentless drive of our police personnel who have taken these loose firearms off our streets,” said PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano Magistrado IV in a statement.

He added that the confiscation of these firearms prevented lawless individuals from using them in crimes and other illegal activities. (PNA)
