BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 (Caraga Region) said it has arrested the region’s most wanted person, a former member of the communist New People’s Army (NPA).
In a report on Thursday, PRO-13 identified the arrested individual as alias Owen, 38, a former political instructor of the Section Committee 14 under the North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee of the New People’s Army.
Personnel of the Bayugan City Police arrested the suspect in Barangay Poblacion, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur on Wednesday.
Owen is facing charges of murder, multiple attempted murder, kidnapping, and serious illegal detention, which were filed at the Regional Trial Court Branch 7 in Bayugan City.
The suspect is also linked to two crimes in Bayugan City – the shooting of an Army corporal and the wounding of four other soldiers in Barangay Pinagalaan on Nov. 18, 2014, and the kidnapping of alias Mamerto in Barangay Grace Estate on Dec. 17, 2014.
“We are firm in our resolve to bring fugitives of the law before the court so they may answer for the crimes they have committed. Justice must prevail,” PRO-13 chief, Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano Magistrado IV, said in a statement on Thursday. (PNA)
