MANILA – The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has confiscated 21,000 liters of illegal diesel petroleum products worth PHP1.26 million in Oriental Mindoro province.
In a statement on Thursday, CIDG chief Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said the suspect, identified as Rommel, was caught distributing and trading the petroleum products in Barangay Del Pilar, Naujan town on Feb. 21.
Torre said the CIDG Oriental Mindoro Provincial Field Unit agents conducted the operations that resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
He said charges are being readied against the suspect for violating Batas Pambansa 33 (Act defining and penalizing certain prohibiting acts inimical to the public interest and national security) and Republic Act 11592 (LPG Industry Regulation Act).
Torre said the CIDG is steadfast in enforcing all laws that define and penalize “prohibited acts inimical to the public interest and national security involving petroleum and/or petroleum products.”
“We urge the public to report illegal trading and activities involving petroleum products, economic sabotage, and all criminalities, the CIDG will do the rest,” Torre said. (PNA)
