MANILA (Mabuhay) — Philippine-based Brazilian-Japanese model Daniel Matsunaga will promote health and wellness in the country by establishing D. Matsunaga Football Academy, a school for kids that offers a course in football.

The academy is set to open in January with classes scheduled twice a week.

“Instead of playing electronic gadgets, they can have fun while running, doing an exercise,” said in an interview.

He believes football is also a good way to bring children closer to their parents in that they could go together to matches with the latter cheering on their little ones.

“This can change the lives of people, of families,” Daniel said.

“I’ve been playing football since I was a kid. Since it’s growing really big here, I want to share my passion.”

The hunk model recently headlined a show at the Music Museum dubbed “Hotspot,” with proceeds going to his academy and the Our Lady of Penafrancia Association. Other guest performers were beauty queens Venus Raj, Ariella Arida and Shamcey Supsup; model Fabio Ide; and actress-dancer Wyn Marquez, to name a few.

The heartthrob is cast in the movie “Past Tense” and the Metro Manila Film Festival entry. More projects are underway.

“My career is 100 times better, so many blessings. People’s support is amazing.” (MNS)
