DAVAO CITY – Police here confiscated illegal drugs worth more than PH1.4 million in a weeklong operation from March 23 to 29, the Davao City Police Office reported Monday.
Col. Hansel Marantan, acting Davao City police chief, said 29 anti-drug operations resulted in the arrest of 39 suspects and the seizure of 213.736 grams of shabu and 255.84 grams of marijuana.
The shabu is worth PHP1.45 million, and the marijuana is worth PHP30,700, police said.
“The Davao City Police Office remains steadfast in its mission to protect the city and its residents,” Marantan added.
Meanwhile, the DCPO chief also said that during the week, the DCPO’s intensified anti-gambling efforts led to the apprehension of 32 gamblers in 24 operations. Around PHP6,126 in bet money was confiscated, and 24 cases were filed against the violators.
Likewise, Marantan added that they conducted 41 operations aimed at capturing wanted persons, which resulted in the arrest of 41 individuals, including eight most wanted persons and 33 others.
Through 39 operations targeting loose firearms, the DCPO apprehended three individuals and seized four illegal firearms.
In addition, authorities recovered three other firearms through surrender, 37 through the “Oplan Katok” safekeeping program, and filed one case in court related to firearms.
“These accomplishments highlight the DCPO’s dedication to enforcing the law while respecting human rights and adhering to Police Operational Procedures,” Marantan added. (PNA)
