DAVAO CITY – Police operatives confiscated more than PHP2.4 million worth of illegal drugs in a series of operations conducted from June 1 to 8, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) reported Monday.

In a statement, acting DCPO director, Col. Hansel Marantan, said the intensified anti-drug campaign involved 27 separate operations, leading to the arrest of 31 individuals.

From June 1 to 7, authorities seized 157.16 grams of methamphetamine (shabu) with an estimated street value of PHP1.06 million, along with 5,007 grams of marijuana worth PHP600,840. On June 8 alone, an additional PHP727,600 of suspected shabu was seized in Paquibato District here.

“Let this serve as a powerful reminder that a safer, drug-free Davao is well within our reach if we continue to stand together,” Marantan said.

Meanwhile, Marantan also reported significant accomplishments in the fight against illegal gambling during the same period.

Police conducted 15 operations, resulting in 19 arrests, the confiscation of PHP4,865 in betting money, and the filing of 15 cases.

Similarly, the DCPO carried out 47 operations targeting wanted individuals, successfully apprehending 47 people, including 17 listed as most wanted and 30 others.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to barangay officials, community members, and the city government for their continued support, which has been invaluable to the success of all these operations,” Marantan added. (PNA)
