Hundreds of thousands are in need of relief goods. Schools in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan cities with no running water and only a couple of toilets but which are now evacuation centers are swamped with thousands of refugees who occupy every bit of space for a chance to grab some rest. The government said death already topped 1,000 as of Wednesday. More bodies are expected to be washed ashore after the Friday night deluge of mud, floodwaters and  debris caused by typhoon Sendong swept the two western Mindanao cities.
