MANILA, Nov 5 (Mabuhay) –The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will propose the abolition of the policy on the use of face shield to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said Thursday.
“Nakausap ko si Secretary Eduardo Año diyan, we support na paluwagin na ang polisiya sa paggamit ng face shield,” Malaya said at the Laging Handa public briefing.
“Kami sa DILG we will recommend through the IATF na dahan-dahan nang tanggalin ang face shield as a requirement, except of course in hospital settings,” he added.
Malaya however said the final decision will still be in IATF’s hands, adding that the next meeting will be held on Sunday.
Prior to this, Malacañang said that a number of the members of the IATF are in favor of ditching the mandatory use of face shield when indoors, as the number of COVID-19 cases is declining.
“I can confirm that since the number of COVID-19 cases are going down, the IATF is discussing kung ipagpapatuloy pa ang pagsusuot ng face shield,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said.
“Marami ang nagsasabi sa IATF na itigil na ang pagsusuot ng face shield (A lot of IATF members are in favor of ditching the face shield),” Roque added.
Roque, however, stressed that the IATF has yet to decide if the face shield should go. (MNS)
