ACTOR Dingdong Dantes dismissed speculations that he will enter politics soon.
Earlier this month, President Benigno Aquino III appointed the actor as commissioner-at-large of the National Youth Commission (NYC) for three years.
Dingdong is also very active with his Yes Pinoy Foundation and supportive of the programs of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
Dingdong clarified that although he’s very active with public service, he still loves his job as an actor and is not planning to join the government in the future.
He added he will likely take his masters degree than enter politics.
“Part lang talaga ako ng organization. First, they got me as a volunteer. Then, habang tumatagal, naging parang ambassador nila ako. Then, I became friends with their past commissioners, naging barkada ko talaga. They’re even the one na nakasama ko to put up Yes Pinoy,” he explained.
The actor continued: “I think it’s just doing the same thing, mas official lang ngayon kasi with my experience sa lahat ng napagdaanan ko. Also, 33 na ako, I think it’s the right time for me to share what I’ve learned in policy making this time.”
The actor said he has yet to receive the appointment papers from Malacanang.
Meanwhile, the Kapuso Primetime King is confident that his character in the upcoming series “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real” will not stir controversy or create problems to his new post.
He believes the viewing public is more mature now and knows how to differentiate his roles in front and behind the camera.
“It’s just a story. Siguro isa rin kaya ako nagkakumpiyansa to get the role is because I believe in the institution, with GMA. Alam ko naman na at the end of the day, they will present a story na for the majority of the Filipino viewers,” he said.
“Alam naman natin how conservative the Filipino viewers are, kung ano ‘yong mga importanteng pinanghahawakan nating values. We’re just presenting this plot pero ang aabangan mo lang naman is the resolution later on. So, ‘yung struggle ng characters, ‘yung struggle ng sitwasyon ‘yun ang importante. Sisiguraduhin ko rin naman na ‘yung end result nito ay favorable to everyone.”
“Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real”, which will premiere next month, also features Lovi Poe and Maricel Soriano. (MNS)
