MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) has raised “Code White Alert” in all hospitals nationwide, putting them in the “highest state of preparedness” to deal with any medical emergencies throughout the long weekend.

In an interview on “Special Report: Undas 2024” organized by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Health Assistant Secretary Albert Domingo said DOH said Code White Alert stays until November 2.

The alert status ensures that “all hospitals are totally prepared to deal with any medical emergencies during the long weekend.”

Code White Alert, he said, also “puts all health professionals and health personnel and workers on standby to respond to medical emergencies at any time.”

Domingo said the operations center of hospitals nationwide is also on standby and in coordination with the regional and central offices of the DOH.

Meanwhile, he advised people who plan to go to cemeteries but are not feeling well to stay home.

“Your dead loved ones will not take it against you if you prioritize your health,” he said.

With the change in temperature and the onset of cold weather, Domingo warned that influenza-like illnesses are on the rise. Their symptoms include cough, runny nose, fever, and allergies.

He also urged the public to make sure that the water they are drinking and food eating are not contaminated to prevent poisoning. (PNA)
