LEGAZPI CITY – The Department of Health in Bicol (DOH-5) has delivered additional medical supplies in Sorsogon for the healthcare needs of residents affected by the phreatic eruption of Bulusan Volcano.

In a media release on Friday, DOH-5 said a total of 1,000 salbutamol nebules were handed over by DOH Bicol Assistant Regional Director Rosa Maria Rempillio to the Sorsogon Provincial DOH Office (PDO).

These medicines are intended to help relieve symptoms such as difficulty breathing, coughing, and chest tightness in individuals with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) that may have been exacerbated by volcanic ash.

Health commodities, including water containers, facemasks, N95 masks, and salbutamol nebules, have been distributed to the towns of Bulan, Juban, Irosin, and Magallanes.

For water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) purposes, jerrycans have also been provided to various affected towns.

The DOH Bicol said it is actively monitoring the situation of the affected residents to ensure adequate assistance and prevent any health issues.

The health authority also urged everyone to adhere to safety and health guidelines to protect against potential health threats posed by volcanic ash.

The DOH Human Resource for Health in Juban has also provided psychological first aid to several households in Barangay Guruyan, Juban, Sorsogon.

Meanwhile, the Office of Civil Defense in Bicol has supplied 10,000 N95 facemasks and 1,500 hygiene kits to affected residents since the phreatic eruption earlier on Monday. (PNA)
