MANILA – Filipino Alexandra Eala and Indonesian Janice Tjen lost to fourth seeds Tereza Mihalikova of Slovakia and Olivia Nicholls of Great Britain, 4-6, 2-6, in the WTA 500 Abu Dhabi Open doubles semifinals Friday night at Zayed Sports City International Tennis Centre in United Arab Emirates.

Mihalikova and Nicholls will meet the winners between American pair Sofia Kenin/ Desirae Krawozyk and Ekaterina Alexandrova/Maya Joint of Australia.

Mihalikova and Nicholls defeated Andreja Klepac of Slovenia and Irina Khromacheva, 5-7, 7-6 (5), 10-8, while Eala and Tjen Eala and Tjen stunned second seeds Cristina Bucsa of Spain and Shuai Zhang of China, 6-3, 6-3, in the quarterfinal round.

Meanwhile, World No. 11 Alexandrova will be up against American Hailey Baptiste in the singles semifinal.

The other semifinal match features third seed Clara Tauson of Denmark against Sara Bejlek of Czech. (PNA)
