TACLOBAN CITY – Police operatives arrested on Wednesday the No. 1 most wanted person in Eastern Visayas who is facing rape charges in Calbayog City, Samar.
Authorities identified the suspect as alias NenNen, a 37-year-old male who works as a delivery guy and a resident of Matobato village in Calbayog City.
Police arrested the suspect by virtue of a warrant of arrest for two counts of qualified rape of a minor (Violation of Republic Act 8353 in relation to Republic Act 11648) with no bail recommended, and rape through sexual assault with a recommended bail of PHP120,000.
“The arrest of the region’s number one most wanted person is a major accomplishment in our intensified anti-criminality operations. This success reflects the dedication, courage, and teamwork of our police personnel,” Police Regional Office (PRO) 8 director Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy said in a statement Thursday.
“The Police Regional Office 8 remains steadfast in pursuing fugitives and bringing them to justice to ensure peace and security for the people of Eastern Visayas,” he added.
The successful operation was a collaborative effort of the Police 804th Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion Region 8, Calbayog City Police Station, Samar Provincial Highway Patrol Team, Samar Maritime Police Station, Provincial Intelligence Team Samar, Regional Intelligence Unit with its tracker team, Provincial Intelligence Unit Samar, and the 1st Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company.
The accused was brought to the local police station for proper disposition.
Capoy vowed to continue to intensify their law enforcement operations and pursue wanted individuals to ensure the safety and security of the people of Eastern Visayas.
Meanwhile, also on Wednesday, PRO 8 operatives arrested in Navotas City a high-profile drug suspect identified as alias Kalag, a 51-year-old unemployed male. He is listed as the No. 3 drug personality under the Eastern Visayas regional priority target list.
Policemen arrested the suspect by virtue of a warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, with no bail recommended.
The joint operatives are from the Regional Intelligence Division PRO 8 Tracker Team, Northern Police District Special Operations Unit, and Babatngon Municipal Police Station in Leyte.
“The arrest of the No. 3 regional most wanted person is a major breakthrough in our intensified operations. This success is the result of the dedication and tireless efforts of our police personnel and partner agencies,” Capoy said.
Meanwhile, the accused was brought to the Northern Police District Special Operations Unit in Caloocan City for proper disposition. (PNA)
