KORONADAL CITY – A family of three was pinned to death in a highway mishap in Malungon, Sarangani, on Wednesday morning.

Arnel Pinque, operations chief of Malungon’s municipal disaster risk reduction and management office, said the accident happened at about 5 a.m. along the national highway in Barangay Talus of Malungon town.

Involved in the mishap were a Mitsubishi Mirage vehicle and a prime mover trailer truck.

Pinque identified the fatalities as Abdulmajid Sarapudin, 35, a security guard, his wife Ivy Lou, 33, and their three-year-old daughter, all residents of Barangay Labangal, Gen. Santos City.

The victims were in Sarapudin’s car when he lost control after the front wheel slipped off the road due to a crack between the concrete and asphalt.

The car collided with the oncoming truck, killing the family on the spot.

The truck driver, according to Pinque, voluntarily surrendered to authorities. (PNA)
