MANILA, Philippines (ABS-CBN) — An unexpected and heavy rainfall caused floods and traffic all across Metro Manila on Wednesday night. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, Astronomical, and Services Administration or PAGASA, a localized thunderstorm was the cause of the heavy rain, and this was caused by the extreme heat.

Temperature readings reached 35.9 degrees Celsius in Metro Manila on Wednesday, while 37 degrees was measured in the Sangley Point in Cavite as well as the Subic Bay.

PAGASA says that more localized thunderstorms should be expected to bring more rain into the country, specifically in the afternoons and the evenings.

Despite the heavy rain and floods, PAGASA states that there are no tropical thunderstorms within the Philippines’ area of responsibility at the moment.
