MANILA – A female village chief and her husband were shot dead in Iloilo province Thursday morning.

In a report, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) identified the fatalities as Michelle Lamela, chair of Barangay Sto. Niño in Dueñas town and her husband Rodney.

Two unidentified motorcycle riding suspects gunned down the couple who was also on a motorcycle at about 9:40 a.m. in Barangay Tinucuan, some 3 kilometers away from the Dueñas town proper.

The victims were taken to the Passi City Hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival, after succumbing to gunshot wounds to the head and body.

Police are investigating the incident and have mounted a manhunt against the suspects. (PNA)
