MANILA – Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso on Monday offered PHP500,000 in exchange for the voluntary surrender of the driver of the riding-in-tandem who shot dead his former security escort and retired police officer George Capistrano on Sunday in Manila.
In a social media post, the Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) said Domagoso has given the motorcycle driver 48 hours to surrender.
He offered the suspect a possible inclusion to the Witness Protection Program if he can point out the hitman and the larger group behind the attack.
According to the mayor, the victim was riding a motorcycle on his way home when unidentified gunmen shot him in front of his residence shortly after midnight in Tondo.
“We are saddened (by the incident) but then we have to move on and bring justice to Capistrano, his family, and other victims of riding-in-tandem, robbery, and hold-up,” he said.
Capistrano, 56, of Barangay 134, was declared dead on arrival at the Tondo Medical Center. (PNA)
