MANILA (Mabuhay) – JANINE Gutierrez is ready to face her biggest challenge in show business yet, starring in GMA-7’s newest afternoon drama series “Villa Quintana.”

The 24-year-old actress will breathe life to the character of Lynette, the on-screen love interest of actor Elmo Magalona, who plays Isagani.

The young actress is both nervous and excited for this “once in a lifetime opportunity” and thanked her mother network for believing in her talent.

She also shared that her parents, actors Lotlot de Leon and Ramon Christopher Gutierrez are supportive of her chosen profession.

Masaya sila sa akin and lagi nilang pinapaalala na do your best and wag mong sayangin ang opportunity na ito kasi alam ko naman talaga na once in a lifetime lang naman talaga ito so dapat lang talaga galingan,” she said.

Although they never pushed her to enter the industry, or to do things she didn’t like, Janine said she still feels the pressure from the viewing public to perform well in every project.

She added that having Eddie Gutierrez as her grandfather and Asia’s Queen of Songs Pilita Corales and Superstar Nora Aunor as her grandmothers added to the pressure.

“Mas mataas talaga yung expectations sa akin kasi kilala sa industriya yung mga kamaganak ko, yung parents ko, yung lola and lola ko. Minsan people will expect na unang salang mo pa lang, kailangan galingan mo na.”

She said that it pushes her to improve her craft and it serves as her inspiration to continue the family names of her parents.

Meantime, the Kapuso star is excited to share the boob tube with Elmo. The two undergo acting workshops with season director Gina Alajar before filming the series.

Mas nakatulong talaga siya kasi mas naging kumportable kami sa kanya at sa isa’t isa,” she said.

Janine also feels positive for “Villa Quintana” as both her fans and Elmo’s support the project.

“Meron parin namang naninibago pero nangingibabaw parin talaga yung mga sumusuporta. Kinilig ako sa mga fans ni Elmo kasi tini-tweet nila ako na susuportahan nila yung show. I didn’t expect it.”

Joining the two in the upcoming program are Kyla, Sunshine Dizon, Paolo Contis, Raymart Santiago, among others.

“Villa Quintana” premieres November 4 on GMA-7. (MNS)
