If Julia Barretto had to choose with whom to be in a relationship, would it be a person whom she loves or someone who loves her?
This was one of the questions she had to answer in a video uploaded by Star Cinema on its YouTube account early this week.
Initially undecided on which to pick, Barretto then quipped that it’s more important that her future boyfriend would love her family, too.
“Pipiliin ko ‘yung mahal ‘yung pamilya ko,” she said.
But without thinking twice, the actress immediately added:”Pero siyempre [gusto ko din] ‘yung mahal ako.”
While she is already allowed to have suitors, Barretto has repeatedly said in her past interviews that she wants to focus on her career first.
Even her mother, former actress Marjorie Barretto, has constantly reminded her that now is not the time for her to enter a relationship.
“Sa pag-ibig, ang parati kong sinasabi sa kanya, talagang bawal pa siyang mag-boyfriend. I stop there,” Marjorie earlier said.
Admitting that she is at times concerned about Julia’s future, Marjorie said: “I tell her na maraming responsibility na kasama ‘yung mga nangyayari sa kanya ngayon. Pagtuunan niya muna ‘yung career.”
Despite this, young actor Julian Estrada, the son of Senator Jinggoy Estrada, revealed in November that he and Barretto were once a couple.
Estrada said their relationship only lasted for six months but stressed that they did not have a bad breakup. Barretto never spoke publicly about the matter. Both of them are members of the Star Magic batch 2013. (MNS)
