“YES, ready na ako.”
This was the immediate response of actress Kim Chiu when asked if she’s ready to take on a more mature role in the upcoming Star Cinema movie “Etiquette for Mistresses.”
Based on the best-selling book “Etiquette For Mistresses and What Wives Can Learn From Them” written by veteran lifestyle journalist Julie Yap Daza, the movie tells the story of five kept women of different married men.
“This is far from my comfort zone. Sobra siyang challenging kaya ako, go for the challenge. First time ko na ganitong role ko, first time ko rin makasama silang lahat,” Chiu said.
“Etiquette for Mistresses” will also star Claudine Barretto, Iza Calzado, and Kris Aquino.
Aquino said everyone should look forward to the movie as it’s different from the roles they usually portray in television.
It’s also her reunion project with Barretto and “Sukob” director Chito Roño.
“Kaya nakaka-excite is because polar opposites yung characterizations namin. Ibang iba yung character niya [Claudine] kesa doon sa akin. The different sides of a mistress ang makikita ninyo. Merong palaban, nagwawala, meron reserve, strong,” Aquino said.
As for her character, the television host said: “In-imbibe ko talaga kasi doon ay soft spoken ako. Pina-practice ko na talaga.”
Meanwhile, Roño said he is thrilled that the project will finally push through.
The ace director is also happy with his cast.
“Ang hirap buuin yan, if you know the story, medyo ang tagal namin binuo. At sila talaga ang magkakasama sa pelikula. I did not imagine na I will bring back my power cast in ‘Sukob’ together with Iza Calzado and Kim Chiu. I think it’s fate that these actors are the ones who are going to play these roles,” Roño said.
“Etiquette for Mistresses” is expected to grace cinemas before the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival in December. (MNS)
