MANILA – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Monday said a show cause order (SCO) has been issued against the owner and driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser sport utility vehicle (SUV) that was involved in a road rage incident in Guagua, Pampanga that caused both danger and inconvenience to other motorists.
This is about the viral road rage video on social media where the Land Cruiser carrying several men deliberately blocked another motorist on a public road),” it said in a news release.
As preventative measures, the LTO has ordered the driver to surrender his license and suspended it for 90 days, while the vehicle itself was placed on alarm.
According to the SCO, the LTO Office of Intelligence and Investigation Division may mete out penalties if the driver and owner are found liable for reckless driving, obstruction of traffic, and for being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
Maaari silang kumuha ng abogado para sa kanilang depensa (Failure to show up or submit a written statement will be considered as consent to conclude the process or waiving their right to refute the allegations and the decision will be made based on available evidence. They may have a lawyer for their defense),” the LTO said.
The incident went viral when it was posted by motoring vlogger and journalist James Deakin on his Facebook page on Monday. (PNA)
