MANILA – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is investigating a Utility Vehicle (UV) Express driver who rammed several motorcycles along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.
In a statement on Friday, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao assured that the Intelligence and Investigation Division will focus on the probe.
The 54-year-old driver, identified as Ruel Dela Cerna, was driving a UV Express rammed multiple motorcycles along Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay UP Campus, near the central office of the Commission on Human Rights.
Dela Cerna was arrested by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD)-Traffic Sector while LTO personnel administered sobriety and alcohol breath analyzer tests on the driver.
“Bagaman negatibo ang resulta, sasailalim din ito sa drug test (Despite the negative result, he will be administered a drug test),” Lacanilao said.
One rider died, according to reports quoting QCPD Director Col. Randy Glenn Silvio. Initial information released said 13 motorcycles and a car were rammed by the UV Express. (PNA)
