MANILA – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Friday summoned the owner of a motorcycle for parking in the middle of a road in Antipolo City.
In a statement, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza expressed surprise at the brazen actions of its rider after an image of the parked motorcycle went viral on Facebook.
“Talagang mapapailing ka na lang na may mga motoristang ganito ang asal sa kalsada. Subalit gusto din nating pakinggan ang kanyang panig dahil may karapatan siya for due process (You can only shake your head with the behavior of such motorists. But we also want to hear their side as part of their right to due process),” Mendoza said.
In a show cause order (SCO) issued by the LTO, the owner — said to live in Barangay San Roque in Antipolo City — was asked to appear before the agency on Monday.
“You are asked to show cause in writing why you should not be administratively charged for Obstruction of Traffic (Sec. 54 of R.A. No. 4136) in connection with the above incident and why your driver’s license should not be suspended or revoked for being an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle (Sec. 27 of R.A. No. 4136),” the SCO read.
On March 15, a photo showing a motorcycle parked in the middle of a lane in an Antipolo City road was posted on the Parkeserye Facebook page.
The image has since gone viral with around 9,600 reactions and several hundred shares and comments. (PNA)
