LAOAG CITY – A magnitude 5.6 earthquake rocked Ilocos Norte province on Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said, changed from magnitude 5.8 based on the report issued at around 11 a.m. 

Phivolcs said the tremor struck at 10:56 a.m. with its epicenter traced at 6 km. northwest of Bangui town.

The earthquake was of tectonic origin and was 10 km. deep.

Phivolcs advised the public to take precautions as aftershocks are expected from the earthquake.

No damage is expected from the tremor. (PNA)
