MANILA (Mabuhay) — Some 2,000 personnel of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will be on hand to clean up the mess that may be left behind by devotees during the yearly Traslacion on Friday.

MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said the 2,000 will be situated at strategic areas of the procession route.

Tolentino said the MMDA personnel will focus on picking up after the devotees, who are expected to jostle for position to touch the image of the patron during the procession.

Devotees were expected to flock to Quiapo as early as Wednesday for activities related to the Feast of the Black Nazarene, whose image is believed to have miraculous powers.

On Thursday, the image is to be brought to the Quirino Grandstand for the yearly vigil. It will then be returned to the Quiapo Church Friday via the yearly Traslacion. (MNS)
