MANILA (Mabuhay) – The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the government to file its comment on the petition filed by the children of alleged pork barrel scam queen Janet Lim Napoles, which urges the high court to stop the Sandiganbayan from hearing the graft cases against them.

In a two-page resolution, the full court required the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) to file the comment within a period of 10 days upon receipt.

Jo Christine Napoles and James Christopher Napoles, in their petition, urged the high court to nullify the findings of the Ombudsman that led to their indictment for graft in connection with the multi-billion peso scam.

They also asked the high court to recall the warrants for their arrest.

The Office of the Clerk of Court was also directed by the high tribunal to study the possible consolidation of the cases of the Napoles children with the separate petitions filed by accused Senator Juan Ponce Enrile and his former chief of staff, Atty. Gigi Reyes, their co-accused in the graft cases.

The Napoles children stand trial for the alleged misuse of Enrile’s Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF), which was allegedly funneled to their mother’s “bogus” NGOs.

In their petition, the Napoles children argued that the Ombudsman failed to present any evidence against them.(MNS)
