MANILA – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Thursday said its Bataan District Office (BATADO) arrested two individuals for human trafficking.
Operatives of the NBI-BATADO arrested Regina Tagulao and Grazel De Vera in a resto-bar in Limay, Bataan last Sept. 3 for offering women, including minors, to customers for sexual services.
The operation also led to the rescue of five individuals, including two minors.
The suspects were charged for violations of Republic Act (RA) 9208, as amended by RA 10364 as further amended by RA 11862, otherwise known as the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022.
The minors were placed under the custody of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office – Limay, Bataan for eventual turnover to their respective temporary shelters.
Meanwhile the NBI-Iligan District Office (NBI-ILDO) has arrested an individual for falsely claiming to be an agent of the bureau.
Brenneth Buot repeatedly used a fake NBI badge and identification, carried firearms, and introduced himself as an NBI agent at both private and public gatherings.
He also encouraged individuals to invest in FU DALU Agricultural Products Trading.
He was charged with violation of Article 177 (Usurpation of Authority) of the Revised Penal Code, as amended, before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Iligan City on Sept. 3. (PNA)
