MANILA – The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has arrested 1,296 wanted persons, including nine most wanted persons (MWPs) in Metro Manila, during intensified anti-crime operations in April.

NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin said the 528 other MWPs are categorized as “city and municipal,” while the remaining 768 are listed as “other wanted persons.”

He said the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has 297 arrests, followed by the Southern Police District (SPD) with 282, Manila Police District (MPD) with 273, Northern Police District (NPD) with 247, and Eastern Police District (EPD) with 197 last month.

Aberin said figures speak volumes about the NCRPO’s operational tempo and its relentless pursuit of justice.

“These suspects —tagged for high-profile and often non-bailable offenses— were cornered through calculated manhunt operations and cohesive inter-unit coordination,” he said.

Most of the arrested individuals were fugitives for months or even years and facing charges ranging from rape, murder and robbery.

Another significant accomplishment, Aberin said, is the arrest of eight of the 10 newly-listed wanted persons in Metro Manila for May.

“This is a reflection of NCRPO’s intensified campaign against serious offenders to remove them from communities before further harm can occur,” he said. (PNA)
