MANILA – National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin on Friday said over PHP267 million worth of various suspected illegal drugs were confiscated in his first 100 days in office.
In a statement, Aberin said the NCRPO’s anti-narcotics teams also arrested 4,028 suspects in 2,729 anti-drug operations from Nov. 23, 2024 to March 2, 2025.
He said charges were filed for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
During the same period, the NCRPO also conducted 3,126 operations against illegal gambling, resulting in 7,695 arrests and confiscation of bets and gambling paraphernalia worth PHP1.88 million.
He said 3,721 individuals were apprehended through manhunt and warrant operations across the five police districts of NCRPO — Manila, Quezon City, Northern, Southern and Eastern.
The NCRPO also seized 815 illegal firearms, arrested 796 individuals for firearm-related violations, and apprehended 662,150 violators of local ordinances.
Aberin said the crime rate in Metro Manila dropped by 17.04 percent, with 98.82 percent crime clearance efficiency and 72.24 percent crime solution efficiency.
He attributed the decline in focus crimes from 1,837 to 1524 to “strengthened police visibility, intelligence-driven operations, and deepened community engagement.”
“The collective effort and strong partnership of the government and the community result in a safer, peaceful and more secure environment in Metro Manila,” Aberin said.
“NCRPO shall continue to improve in the delivery of peace and order initiatives through our Able, Active and Allied strategy, putting utmost importance in the observance of the rule of law and in strict adherence to the Police Operational Procedures in all police undertakings,” he added.
As part of the National Women’s Month Celebration, the NCRPO launched an all-women Special Weapon and Tactics Team, women desk officers in all police stations, and all-women Civil Disturbance Management Unit.
The initiatives recognize and strengthen the role of women in law enforcement, equipping them to lead in tactical operations, policing and community engagement. (PNA)
